Shadows of Cinema
Since time immemorial, humans have created shadows using their body, hands, and silhouettes, giving life to characters. Thousands of years ago, people began to travel the world, from east to west, taking the quintessence of each culture with them. Chinese shadows were the springboard of cinema and fantastic projections. Today, Valeria Guglietti reverses the roles. Famous scenes and characters from cinema are brough back to her screen, the shadow screen. A parody made with hand shadows. Without words, as if it was a black-and-white film, silent and artisanal. You soon start recognizing the tricks that can be used to magically create characters with agile movements of the hands – and get a craving to try it out for for yourself.
